exhaust cost
Ewww, 2.25 inch piping is only good for 1.6L accents. LOL I would get 2.5. Much much better gains. The price depends on what type of bend (crush, press, mandrel), what material (mild steel, stainless steel), and the size.
2.5inch is a given. 2.25 inch is too small for a Tibby, even in mandrel. Crush stinks bad, never buy it. Press is decent, and Mandrel is the best you can buy, although it will make only a small difference naturally aspirated.
Mild steel is cheaper than stainless steel, and also lighter. But mild steel loses heat faster than stainless steel, making the exhaust leave the car slower as hotter gases move faster. Stainless steel lasts longer as well.

Some people combine the two terms, I don't. Crush is like what the stock exhaust is. Its very bent at the corners. Chop it off near a bend and take a look. Press uses a slightly better machine that doesn't smash it, but slightly bends it. Think of it this way.
Mandrel gets no loss in the corners. 2.5inch all the way through. You get a crush bent 2.5inch exhaust. It compresses the exhaust to 2.15inch in the bends. Thats about 14% less in the bends than in the straight pipe. Thats about what you would expect from stock, though the Tibby is more of a 12% loss... oddly better than most.
My "press" bent exhaust measures 2.32 inches in the bends. About 9% restriction. Better than stock, and the pipe is 0.25inches bigger. Thats where the gains come from.

Pyro, if your gonna replace your pipe, you might as well get the larger diameter mandrel bent. I had a custom crush bent exhaust for over 3years and just recently got a mandrel bent 2.5 exhaust. I wish I would've gotten it sooner. An exhaust isn't gonna give you much power but it does make a big difference sound wise...just two cents from someone who's had both.
excellent so ill get the 2.5 mandrel bent and should i go with Mild steel or stainless steel. From what i gathered was the the only major diffrence was that the stainless steel lasted longer and held the heat longer. correct? so on the type of steel i should get basically comes down to price vs quality, basically u get what u pay for. so how much of a diffrence in price is it from mild steel compared to stainless. thanx

If you get stainless steel, make sure you get a stainless cat too, OR you have some sort of flex pipe so the exhaust can move when the engine torques backward.
Problem that some people run into is they get mild steel cats and the break off with the flex of the exhaust.
