you're joking! do you have a glasspack on it? or a catalytic? both of those together should dampen the sound quite appropriately.

this might sound dumb to the naked eye, but i'm trying to get an over-axle because i suspect they are longer and have the properly designed backpressure engineered for our cars. an under-axle shortens length and loses power. it is also the reason i think the apex'i exhausts don't go straight under the axles but zig zag under them because the proper length for backpressure needed to be maintained. it's sort of the same thing if you look up how headers function. they're not just pipes, or bigger pipes, they need to be a certain length downward to form pressure to pull exhaust out. so by shortening it and getting an under axle straight through, you are missing out on some power.

the guy responded. seems like a proper guy. said it's available to ship from San Diego right away. but then there's that Amazon.com deal for $100 cheaper... hmmmm..

...

I think most of your reasoning above is wrong HKC, you need to go back and read the threads about it on the site..

I'm not going to start though, others can talk about it.

1. Put your tiburon year in your profile.

2. You really want to buy that loud exhaust, to replace 1/2 of the piping with resonators and the like?

Getting a shop to do an exhaust has always been cheaper and less of a headache in my experience.

I noticed that since I put on my loud exhaust, chicks don't dig my car as much for some reason and now I want it quieter. Before the exhaust if there was a chick I never met at a drive through, i'd hear something along the lines of "oooh, that's a nice car" or even one time "can I have a ride".... "i get off in an hour". Now I just hear "I like that blue".

From all the sources I've read, the best exhaust ends at a header, nothing else.

DTN: i forget, you have a glasspack? if that didn't work why not swap the muffler? why would this exhaust be louder than a custom bent one?

RED: yeah i figure that's how it will go! i'll probably de-rust the glasspack and paint it with the leftover hi-temp i have. reason i'm going through with it is i want OEM factory spec done hangers, for the stainless steel mandrel bends, for the over axle. right now i have a crush bent exhaust that needed to be more crushed to fit. sure that swings my theory a little but we will see. if worst comes to worst, i'll have the new shop swap the muffler over but i figure the magnaflow weighs 20 pounds anyways it might as well come out.

i would agree with you guys, but my shop fudged mine up pretty bad. three hangers fell off, and the whole thing is about to fall off. that was one of the reasons for the exhaust smell in my cabin! it all boils down to who does it for you. unfortunately, most shops near me are no good or charge way waaaay too much! there is a great shop in northern MD i know of, but they charge out of the ass and they're mean as hell if you don't have an american car! after two visits to them, i wouldn't be a good politician, i think as a customer you have to have respect and i wasn't given respect because i had a hyundai. so instead, i've chosen to go to northern MD to a midas near my old job and have them transfer the glasspack and cat over to this cheap "OBX" and be freed of issues.

i might be wrong, but we'll have to see. i will provide all details, before & after, videos, cost...etc. it certainly can't do any damage. hell it might even turn out slower!

Mine is 2.25", has a cat, 30" of glasspack, and I've switched out the muffler a few times trying to find a quieter one. The quietest one that was available from pep boys was the cherrybomb turbo. I put that on and it's alot quieter then my previous Flowmaster Delta 40, but it's still loud. I think I'm going to end up adding a resonator and a different muffler. Definately not a can style.

Best muffler in the world is a turbo HKC In all serious, my exhaust is quieter/deeper now than it was when I was N/A, and I went from:

KSpec 4-2-1 -> stock cat -> 28" glasspack -> 2.25" mandrel bent thick piping -> Flowmaster

to

TD04 13T manifold -> 3" flexpipe -> 3" Catco cat -> 3" piping ending at the axle

I don't even run a glasspack or a muffler anymore and its less of a headache for me. Granted the piping I have now is great quality, nice and thick. I expected a headache when I went to pick up my car, as I wanted it done then I was going to do the under axle myself. Now, I figure I'll leave it.

Shame you guys don't live around me. Shop here does great work. I had it all welded up from the downpipe to the axle for $120 parts and labor.

Also got the motoria cat-back, it was definitly loud.

I added an thrush on top of their resonator and swapped the muffler out for a borla.

It sounds awesome now.
