I recently started adding to my Tib, and I was thinking it was time for headers. Is there a huge amount of work involved in installing them, or could a determined do-it-yourselfer pull it off? Would it cause a big change to how the exhaust flows into the under car exhaust system? Which actually leads into the next part of my question...

Recently my muffler got pushed up into my bumper by snow and melted some of the plastic where it hit. I was thinking about dual exhaust, putting cherry bombs on and some decent tips. Is there a huge amount of work that goes into that sort of mod? It looks like I would have to have my bumper cut a bit to allow for a second exhaust tip, and I'm not sure what sort of changes have to be made under the car for there to be room for another pipe.

Of course, depending on what sort of gains these would give me, and the cost associated, I might not do either. They are pretty major. But I figure I should get some more information before I decide, so any help you guys could give me would be great. Thanks in advance!

installing an after market header is not a hard job at all. The hardest part is the nuts and bolts. On my auto tib from texas it had no rust and the bolts practically slid off. My 5spd frolm canada I can't even get the heat shield off lol.

Go out and try to take a nut or 3 off the exhaust manifold. If it's easy enough then go for it. The 2 nuts on the cat studs are pretty hard too though. I had trouble with one of those because mine was stripped.

If you get an aftermarket header it will replace the first cat with the exhaust manifold. So you will need another one if your tib didn't come with 2. If you want to pass emissions anyways.

Dual exhaust is not worth it in my opinion on our cars. Our engines don't flow enough to be worth it.

Well, let's see, we have a DIY section here, I wonder if there is a thread or 12 about installing headers?

Modified88, please use the search function before asking questions, we have tons of threads about both installing headers and several on dual exhausts.

I'm closing your thread, go do some research and open a new thread with specific questions at that time.
