Dry Sump Conversions
Has anybody ever heard of the rumor that converting to dry sump systems will give you more horsepower? It it a myth or has it actually been proven?

Less parasitic during full power pulls. Overall a similar amount of total power is required to pump the oil either way, but you spread out the parasitic loss to 100% of the time the engine is running vs. ramping it up when you are revving higher.
I should also note, I doubt we are talking about more than a couple of horsepower in the most extreme condition.

If you are only running off a battery and have NO alternator (think 1/4 mile at a time here) then it is relatively better to use electric pumps vs. engine-driven. For a street car, you are getting pretty close to scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for power gains in electric oil and water pumps.
