My friend has this Spectre intake that he got from Autozone but he recently got an AEM. I was thinking about taking his old intake and slaping it on mine till I buy an AEM. Here it is:

Heres what it looks like if u add a few other piping pieces from autozone:

Its better than stock but not near as good as an AEM. But I think ill use it for now.

Should it work for the Tib as long as it has the same size opening to fit the throttle body? I think the Air Temp Sensor will mount to it as well it has an opening for one but Im just not sure if itll fit the Tibs ATS.

Hmm..i think i had a similar set up for 1 day when the piping from my Custom CAI was not very good..So i just had a 45 degree bent going down like this, so you would have the pod sitting in the engine bay. It would suck in hot air because of the placement (heat from the engine)..my pipe got really hot when it was like that, i think my car even lost power instead of gaining it..

By the looks of this one it looks longer than my so it might be a bit better but it wouldnt do much and you could get a defect notice for exposed air filter (depending on your state and the cop that stops you lmao.gif)

I spose you can always try it and see how it goes, espiacially if ur not paying for the CAI wink1.gif

But it should be pretty hot there..cos the radiator is just there..so just after u drive open up ur bonnet and put ur hand down there..my car gets heaps hot down there..

And the pod would be blocked so u wont get a lot of air going into it..but anyway, good luck wit it..post after u finished installing it and we will see how it goes..good luck wink1.gif

thankfully we do not have laws here in the US that keep us from running an exposed filter. You guys down under are seriously stuck in a nanny state.

That intake might be good for a while (if you get it for free) but I would definatly either save up for the aem or do something to get that filter into cooler air.

I got it put on today and there is a noticable difference in the higher RPMs. I reached down there after a good bit of running around trying it out and it is much cooler down there than where it was (I just had the resonator removed and was pulling air through the hole in the filter box). Ive got it as far away from the radiator as I can so it doesnt pull too much heat from there. My engine also runs a bit cooler now too. Hey its no AEM but I definately think it helps.

^ Actually, if you position the filter close to the edge of the radiator (but set back a little) there is a space that cold air can come straight through & at speed, I'm sure it'll provide a sensation of boost akin to <span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">N</span><span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%">A</span><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">A</span><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%">A</span><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%">W</span><span style="font-size:24pt;line-height:100%">W</span><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%">Z</span>, lol. Seriously though, it's the best spot around that area.

Also, make sure it doesn't sit too low as water can then become an issue.

i have a custom intake that sits right in the same place man, i notice the diffrence and it really dosent get that hot. a buddy gave it to me as well, look at it this way AEM is 200 and yours is free. yes the air might be cooler but the question is how much of a diffrence will u really feel?

is the small diffrence in power really worth 200? i didnt really think so. just my opinion though

^ AEMs have shown around 16hp gains on the dyno.

Now, whilst a warm air intake easily produces 50np (noise power), in reality it might only produce around 5hp when the bay is cool... & possibly even lose power when the engine bay is hot.

That's why a lot of people think the AEM is worth $200.
