There's an online shop called Ross that sells aluminum intake manifold pieces. You can then use the flange off a stock manifold.</div>
Im thinking about giving this a try. I would have my dad make the IM flange in his machine shop at work and put everything together to make it work. I would make it to fit a mustang TB. Question is how do I make the TPS work with a different throttle body not made for the Tib

Im going to be doing a lot of research on this and I know we have a lot of info on the boards here and decide what kind of design to go with

simply use the mustang tps ;-)

btw, if you do a new intake manifold flange you'll have to also make news "pockets" for the fuel injectors

Ya Im thinking my dad shouldnt have a problam machining all that. Ill talk to him about it today. If I use the mustang TPS I would jsut have to wire it right in then without the connector?

Grab the mustang tps connector and splice them in. It would look stock.

Dude you should make it so that an aftermarket strutbar would still be usable!

My friend got me a polished 70mm TB for a Mustang. It has a 3 wire TPS, so it should splice right in.
You just need to make or buy a flange that fits it, then bolt it on. They sell them.

I'm almost thinking of not going through the trouble of making a manifold (just yet). The runners on the intake manifold are not a restriction for turbo cars. Not in the least. The restriction is the TB opening. So if I can cut off the stock TB flange, then weld on a bigger Mustang flange, then I could bolt on the Mustang TB.

Check out the dimensions thread I made: http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=18004

My calculations show that the manifold runners flow MORE air than a 70mm throttle body can. So they're not a restriction at all. It's just the throttle body flange on the plenum that needs to get cut off.

Note: We're talking about turbo cars here. An n/a car would need bigger openings because the air is not getting forced through.

Yea, worst case, you ruined a stock manifold and a $10 flange. lol

Well, I thought about getting my friend to sell you all the TB's and the flange. It wouldn't be cost efficient to cut/weld the manifolds, then ship them back and forth.
I think everyone should have a shop that can cut the stock flange off and weld on the aluminum one. Granted, most exhaust shops can't do aluminum welding, but there are specialty shops around.

I'll see what the interest is in the TB/flange group buy. Or maybe get it done myself first to show everyone. They go for $145 online, but I think my friend can get you all a better deal in a GB.

The Mustang TB's have a bypass port on the bottom, but you can block it off using JBweld or somthing, then sanding it down for a nice finish. It's small and hidden from view.

I believe these are the ones. It's polished just like the pics: http://www.professional-products.com/throttleFord.php
