More photos and elaboration will follow, but I figured this was enough to get some discussion started.

Damn Random, you're up early.

Good comparrison shots. It's really intersting to see what they skimped on and what they redesigned for the new IM.

Now someone needs to do an IM swap and dyno test smile.gif

beta 1 and beta 2? what year did they switch?
looks like the beta 2 intake is for a better power band where the beta 1 would give more total power. just a guess.

That is thing is a monster compared to our old ones...so, it would fit?(thats what she said)

If this produced a gain, why don't we see a higher HP rating for the Beta II?

I've been thinking about this all day (well, not continuously, that would be obsessive smile.gif ), and I don't think it would fit.

There's not much room now between the back of the manifold and the firewall, and even if it physically fit, it may slam into the firewall under heavy accelleration. So to sum up: 1) it might not fit, and 2) if it does, you will need really stiff engine mounts to keep it from crushing the firewall.

Maybe Cheuk or Boogyman know of people who have tried this over in Korea. I may be completely wrong here.

Actually the saleman at Hyundai said that they got 11 more HP out of the new Beta in the 2003 Tiburon. He showed me a ntoe on it from Hyundai, but it didnt explain what they did to achieve it? When I asked why it was rated the same, he said because they are trying to promote the V6. So I dunno....
