<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (hamhead)</div><div class='quotemain'>Gah, its some sort of spray I saw it somewhere. I knew ceramic coating involved charging the surface so I couldn't see how it would've worked. I think someone sprayed their downpipe with it because the heat from it was messing with the alternator... I'll find it somewhere...

While I realize that wrapping a header with heat wrap that gets 1600degrees and wrapping an intake that might get 200degrees will mean probably less corrosion if any because of the wrap, I personally don't trust the wrap. I've seen holes cooked in headers cause of that stuff.</div>

but we are not talking about 1600F here, intake wraps will do just fine. Look through those pages that I sent you smile.gif

Header wrap is good as well if you know what you are doing smile.gif

There is also special spray for downpipes smile.gif just check that page out man!

Heat wrap doesn't keep heat in necessarily, it keeps two bodies of different temperatures from affecting one another. So, if you wrap headers, they'll get hotter because heat from the pipes isn't being released into the air in the engine bay. If you wrap your intake, it won't soak in as much heat from the engine bay, and thus stay colder.

the spray stuff dosent work that well. find someone in your area that dose true powder coats or send it to jet-hot.com and have them do it.

you can do it your self but it can get messy and you'll need an oven to bake it with.

Yup, the DEI one Redzman posted is good. I'll be making my own from heat shroud of similar material[perhaps a mil or so thicker]

Never seen their website, but I know you can get their stuff through summitracing.com, relatively cheap too.

Jegs sells a similar wrap (if not the same thing) costs around $40 to $50 if I remember correctly..even has different colored "shoe laces" to match engine color
