Centrifuge Oil Filter
Ive known about these for about 6 months now, but just started to study them. My dad owns a 2K6 Freightliner that has a Mercedes diesel in it which has a centifuge filter in it.
The filters spin around Really fast which pushes all the oil to the out side of the filter which ofcourse filters the oil to .5 Microns, and normal filters filter to 5 microns... Pretty amazing stuff, I just decided to show you some new stuff.
Heres a link to learn a little more...

Nothing overly new. (you guys are going to hate me saying this) the original Fiat 124 had something similar that was bolted onto the crank pulley. Feed by passages around the front bearing, it filtered the oil by spinning at engine speed and caused all the crud to be "caked" to the outside edge.
Fiat gave up on the idea due to trouble with leaks. This system you pointed out here looks to be much more promising. Have to wonder what it uses to spin it though

Yea its pretty cool alot of BMWs have them, its set up as inline where the pcv valve is normally located, and the crankcase gas actually spins them, and the oil drips back down to the oil pan and the gases get sent to the intake ot be reburnt....really cool design, been thinking of making one work for the tib but not sure how well it would work with a turbo set up, and i have enough things to worry about as it is with a boosted motor, with a full standalone! (as all of us boosted guys know) sad.gif
