I got this CEL for the second time now.
A little info: 2 months or so ago I installed the 1.8 cam and the 1.8 ECU from a 98 Elantra. After a month, this CEL came up. It states that the car ran rich for 30 seconds 2 continuous start cycles (Dont Hyundai's run rich normally? lol), no other codes. I reset the ECU and it went away. About a month ago, it came back... same error code.
Has anyone else experienced this CEL? I am not sure if it has to do with the ECU swap or not. I reset the ECU again and for now its off.
I wish the error code said whats wrong, but it gives a lot of things to check...
Vacuum Leak (not likly since its so sporatic).
Integrity of Manifold, Muffler, Cat... (I did get my new Exhaust Manifold from the recall not too long ago. O2 sensors are OK [no error code for them]).
Evap Canister Purge solenoid.
Injectors clogged or faulty wiring.
Fuel Pump.
ECM.
I might check these things out... I might just keep resetting until the problem is consistant... I dont know yet wink1.gif

hey, what car do you have?
if you have a tiburon...why did you swap the ecu?
just to check...you made sure that you lined up the white dots on the cam, right?

Since I've installed my 1.8l ECU, I've had ONE issue.
Every once in awhile, and it's only happened 3 times, the car will shudder like I hit something at about 75MPH, the CEL will flash on then off and drive just fine.
Get it scanned, and they tell me there is no code.

The 1.8 swap helps a little with performance, check this site, its been mentioned.
Yes, the cam is in 100%.
Ive had the CEL go on and go off too once. This one stays on until I erase it, and happened twice.
I dunno, I can live with it for now, but I was wondering what was going on. If it is a sensor (or purge valve) I will wait till its more prevelant and happening continuously (or I might check it if I find myself without new car parts and bored).

eh, I am 99% sure it was out of a 98 elantra :\. I forget what the part number is off hand. I pulled it from a junked elantra.
Mabe if the CEL comes on again, I will just swap back to my 2.0.

Yeah, the earlier 1.8L Elantra's had a problem in their ECU's. Mine isn't hurting anything.
