CEL codes - troubleshoot
Ive got kind of a related question. I was looking through an autozone ad this morning and i saw a scanner that reads and erases diagnostic codes on OBD II equipped vehicles. Is this what I want to check my codes for my CEL? It is constantly going on and its a pain taking it to the dealer to have them shut the thing off. thanks guys

makes sense to me. my dealer is pretty far away from where i live and a lot of places around here are dumb and try to make you pay for it. I dont have CELs much, but if i did, id want to invest in my own scanner too

Our cars use the ISO protocol. Some of the scantools are good on almost all vehicles though, especially the ones that only check codes and clear the CEL. The more advanced ones may have different versions in which case you need the ISO.

next time it does come on, go to your local advance auto/pep boys/autozone and get them to read the code for it. post the code on here and we can help you make it so that the reason it is coming on is non-existent.

Found this on eBay. Anyone got any input on this?
