have you checked the coilpack to see if it's burnt?

 

im not even worried about the car running. it hasnt for a while now. The problem is its just not cranking at all. No turning over or anything.

 

Well, I gave you all the simple stuff to check... Now you need to pull the starter wire off and check the voltage when you turn the key. If it's good, then your starter probly went out, or something is binding.

If not, then you need to check the wire back to the starter relay.

 

Ya, Im going to check that starter wire. Im sure its not getting a signal but then I have to figure out why.

 

It sounds like what mines doing & it's the starter sticking. Give the starter a few taps with a hammer then try it.

 

starter is fine. I found that its not getting the 12V signal though. Now I have to work my way back to the ignition switch or whatever. Everything from the relay to the starter is good. no resistance or anything. The relay is good because I swapped it with a known good relay. Im thinking that maybe the clutch switch is shot. Im going to try and pull it out and just wire it together so it is always grounded, at least for testing purposes. Like I said a couple of sparks fell and maybe somehow it went back to the clutch switch? any ideas?

OK, bypassed the clutch switch and still nothing. Im not really sure where to turn to next. Im going to get on the computer at work today and start going through things trying to track it down. Any suggestions, I will check more tonight

 

Recheck your fusable links, pull them from the engine bay and actually check them with a multimeter. sometimes they don't look blown.

 

Already done. Everything is good with the fusible links

 

First, after all the testing you've done, make sure your battery is fully charged. Then, since you said you've already checked the switch wire to the starter and it's not getting 12v (I'll assume you had someone attempting to crank it) at least rule everything else out by jumping the constant power terminal on the starter to the switch terminal to verify that the car will at least crank. Then, trace it back to the ignition switch.

The easiest way to diagnose the problem is to pull the relay and verify voltages there. It effectively half-splits the electrical system so you have an idea which way to go. Check pin 1 for 12v, 3 for ground when clutch is depressed, and 5 for 12v when attempting to start. You can jump pins 1 and 2 to verify that all components from the battery, fuses, wiring, and starter are all good.
