boring out stock manifold
im gonna get ahold of a stock intake manifold for cheap from the junk yard and was wondering whats the ideal size to go for N/A without going overboard? and if anyone knows off hand who does a job at porting and polishing manifolds?
i wanna add the bored throttle body from kspec-sharkracing etc.. after its all done to finish it off.
i know there is posts from the past on this but I aint been on the boards as much lately in the last 6 months.

Get the TB plenum bored to 62. That way it's a bit bigger than the biggest NA BBTB out there.
ALso get the runners bored and polished a bit.

Stock can only be bored to 58MM, and you need a new butterfly valve.
Personally, I'd just get the Rside or Iceman when it's made.

ya kspec has the rside one that goes up to 61mm so would it best to go wtih the 61mm and then just port the runners everything to match it at 61mm? that basically answers the whole question there then its on to get the manifold off the elantra in the junk yard and then get it sent out.
focushunter... like that name
i was gonna' name my car 'mitsu-killer' until i learned our cars can fit stuff from mitsu's

haha see i didnt want to put any killer or hunter torward a certain car that could wup me easly but I mean ive seen SVT's at the track run like 15.8-16.2 let alone riced out 4 door and hatch versions of focus run like 16.5-17.2 at best with more mods then my elantra lol. so ya I said f*** it this thing hunts and eats focus all day long so its the Focus Hunter. k back to the topic.
Don't bother trying to do a descent job polish on the stock manifold, modify it! You will see that the oem manifold's tank is very crapy inside, lots of bumps.
This is what I did, better results, less time/pain. I was planning on doing what you want to do but ended up doing this.
-Cut the manifold at the top of the runners.
-This way, it will be pretty easy to do a descent job on the runners. Remember not to polish the runners all the way to the block side. Leave about an inch rough. Otherwise, there won't be good fuel atomisation.
- Take a 4-5-6 inch aluminum pipe(your choice) and weld it to the runners. If possible, put it at an angle on the runners, going up at the tb side. This will help to get air evenly.
- Weld a plate at one end, a small outlet pipe on the tank for the IAC and a plate to mount the tb at the other end. Voila
This way, you have a nice ported/polished IM without some of the troubles and you can pick any tb you want....I used a 60mm tb from a honda CRV.

If I would have had the time, I would have made custom runners...but I left it to a futur project. Making a custom IM is pretty simple, the advantages are very noticeable. Have fun!
