I seem to be having an electrical problem, but I can't really pinpoint the location on my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. The problems are the following:

1) When watering the windshield the wipers do not automatically come on and "clean" the windshield.
2) The little continuous ding that should be present when you take off the seatbelt and the car is running, as well as when first inserting your keys to the car.

Im I right in assuming that it is a blown fuse? I looked for that on the driver side box and found none of the fuses to be blown. Also checked the engine bay and got the same results.

Am I missing something? Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Thanks for any help...

Couple of questions for you here.

1. When did this all start?

2. Which fusebox did you check? The one INSIDE the car or the one in the engine bay? (Both are on the drivers side)

3. Did you actually remove all of the fuses one at a time and look at them? I've had fuses test fine before but be bad.

4. Been doing any electrical work?

1. It started after leaving "Sound Advice".

2. I checked the one by the driver side inside the car as well as the one in the engine bay. Although I didn't really pay too much attention to the one in the engine bay, I think i skipped a few.

3. The fuse box inside the car, yeah, I checked all but the top four.

4. The electrical work was done by the people at "Sound Advice". My fear is that I can't go tomorrow and tell them this happened, because they will claim no responsibility, since I didn't point it out before I left.

Does anyone know which fuses control the wipers? Maybe that's one of the ones I skipped over.

try the bottom left fuse in the floorboard. Should be 15amp

Edit:
since we seem to have a lot of electrical problems and fuse related questions and concerns, I took the time to post up the diagram and information of the fusebox in the floorboard and engine bay at the link below. It will be a sticky in the General Performance section unless moved elsewhere.

Thank you so much for that thread...

The bottom left fuse? That would be number 8 correct?

What exactly is "instrument cluster"?

yes, that would be #8. Just because the fuse says it goes with that particular part of the car (audio, wiper, etc.) doesn't necessarily mean another fuse didn't cause the problem. Check them all.

Instrument Cluster would be your gauge cluster (speedometer, tach, odometer, fuel/temp.. all that stuff)

Ok well I checked out all the fuses and none of them did the trick.

I went ahead and took it to Sound Advice and they said they'll have a look at it but that I would need an appointment. The closest date they had is Sunday. So on Sunday I guess ill find out what's going on.

Anybody have any other places I should be looking at?

If they installed a new headunit.. the wiper control box is in the centre console under where the radio goes. This controls the delay AND the self park feature.. it might also deal with the turn on when you wash the windows. It is possible they unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in.
