Guys, I really need some opinions/help or anything you want to add. Here is my problem. About 2 months ago the car started dying from electrical strain and lights/radio would turn off after being on for extended periods of time. The car usually never died mechanically but weakened slightly. I got a CEL and took it to my mechanic who replaced the Battery and alternator. This seemed to have solved the problem. now its back in full force. Just the other day i noticed my radio turning off. Shortly after the dash died and the headlights dimmed. Then the car just locked up, no engine power at all and just DIED, after turning off all electronic devices i was BARELY able to get it onto the road where my house is and push that heavy ass thing into the driveway.
Sorry for the long explanation but this is KILLING me. I really cant drive it, the battery is on a charger now and shows that it needs to be charged. I really hope its not the alternator or battery because i JUST replaced them, its rediculous. Also, upon replacing the battery i got one of much lower watts or amps i forget because they didnt carry the high power one at the time. This problem sucks guys because its not mechanical and i have no clue what to do....I NEED HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Default Alternator Removal

Take your alt out and take it to autozone. I bet you its dead.

Also, do you have a system on your car? Do the lights dim when the bass hits?

Few questions, then I can tell you what might help. Definitely sounds like your alternator bit the dust again, and so did your battery. Do you run subs/amps/etc.? Had you messed with the grounding of the car before?

I believe you may have a bad ground that is causing the alternator to overcharge the battery and kill it and the alternator. I would go back and make sure you reground EVERYTHING. Use the DIY in the DIY yourself section, but change the ground that someone pointed out might overcharge the alternator and place it somewhere else. All his other ground points are fine. (I hope you didn't do the one ground where I believe Shaddoh pointed out that it might cause alternator overcharging).

^^ i agree with hamhead.. do the 3 big ground wire upgrade and maybe get an el cheapo ground wires kit off of ebay and see if that solves your problem. something is causing the alternator and battery to die, if indeed they did go bad again

it definatly sounds like your car is over charging and cooking the battery. Just because you replaced the battery to ground wire does not mean the car has a complete circut. If you have any corrosion at the chassis connection, you are not getting a complete pass through of power. The same goes for any of the other connections.

hey guys i just wanna say thanks for the fast response, it really helped to cool down my "freak-out." Also unlike most forums there was no flaming in the responses, you guys are real cool! THANK YOU! Im going to do the ground then take the alt and battery to be checked for "deadness."

I'd put money on there being a bad ground between the engine and body, there should be a ground strap somewhere between them and it might have broke, I have a ground cable made out of 4ga battery cable bolted to the block and the other end to the firewall.
