Default beta engine head metallic nervature

Beta engines during years seems a little different:

look closely to head pattern (metallic nervature)!

this first group has the same pattern

1) 2.0 beta:

2) 1.8 beta (1998):

3) 1.6 beta G4GR(1997):

this second group has a different pattern:
more nervature (look under valve cover)

1) 2k beta 2.0 cc:

2) 2001 elantra 2.0 cc solid lifter:

3) 1.6 beta (2k)

(1.6 has " doch 16 valve " in the valve cover in black.)

can anyone explain the differences between those different pattern?

it seems that older engines have less nervature.

I can't comment, and likely neither can anyone else, until those websites start working...

Ahh, I figured out a way around the Apache server.

That's just cast webbing, it might be extra oiling feeds for the solid lifters but I don't know. The head doesn't need a LOT of strength like the block does, so I doubt they're much for reinforcement.

However, if nothing else, at least we know the castings are indeed different on the outside. Dunno what that does for the inside or the oiling / cooling system.

oh damn ...
for all: cut and copy the links in a new browser window.

yes i suppose that the second group whith more nervature head under valve cover was more recent.

but 1999-2000 models should'nt have solid lifters.
i think it is no lifter related.

one of the cars should be yamaneko's supercharged elantra ... anyone knows what year is yamaneko engine?

can anyone explain another difference?

the hot plate and first cat is different between
beta engine:

yes random you're right
i've yamaneko's engine photos
and his block is as second group.

it seems that head was changed between 1999 and 2000 but no one know about internal differences.
