You replaced your alternator because it was bad. Now you want someone else to use it? Obviously it is so bad that you can no longer really use it anymore, that's why you got rid of it.
Plus, in the 3 days it would take to ship, he could already have his car back up and running. And it only takes like $60 to get it rebuilt, so why pay $40 for a junk one?
Throw that thing away, don't try to pawn it off on folks.

^^ Zoned, just because you think it's junk, does not mean that everyone will. Most of the time an extra alternator is not available. Had this opportunity been presented to me, I would have rewound mine myself instead of buying a rebuilt one.

There is a reason you don't find many alternators around, manufacturers give you money to get them back to rebuild because it's quick and easy.

Well I took the alternator out and took it to autozone and it failed all 3 portions of the test. I went to work and cried for 6 hours and then went and bought an alternator, an oil filter, and 4 quarts of oil lol. I was 400M overdue for an oil change anyway and emptied all the oil out before removing the alternator.

Got the new one in tightened everything up after making sure the ribs were on correctly and jumped the car. Works awesome now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but when i got all light one at night and i use windos the light dim a bit.... and it evan affect the idle ? during day nothing execpt engine and stereo if i use on or 2 window the idle goes down really a tinny bit and when i stop it goes up sad.gif

would it be the alternator going out evan if i got 14v+ when the car is running at idle sad.gif

simple check.. with it running and lights and a/c on remove the - cable from the battery and then the + cable as well make sure you dont touch anything with the + cable.. if it stays running alt is good. if it dies your alt is bad.

the korean oem alt are set at a certian voltage output the newer one are about 13.8v while the older makes are 14.7v

^^^ I should add that testing the alternator this way is not good on newer cars. On older ones like ours its fine.

Yeah, my new alternator came with instructions and it said "never disconnect the cable from the battery while the car is running, as it could be harmful to you and to the car". I had already did that and nothing bad happened, but you never know..

^^ Just so some of you n3wbz know... Mad john knows his shit and would not try to fubar your car. The thing with removing the battery cable is that it will spark when you put it back on. Manufacturers don't want that extra liability and it's easy to put a sticker on a part.
