Am I the only one that thinks the Tiburon could have been "more"?

I mean engine wise. Me and a buddy of mine where thinking at least a better engine option like forced induction. I dont know just a thought. And the V6 engine in the Gks are a slap in the face.

it didnt need to be for the time.

the 2003 v6 option took on the SE-R(175 hp)and the type s (200hp, less torque) while offering more features for the money.

had it added a 250hp turbo option, it wouldve required extensive rework in order to operate reliably and appeal to those in the new segment, which wouldve raised the price of the new concept SUBSTANTIALLY.

imagine a 2003 tiburon trying to compete in a market with the 2003 audi tt, mustang, gto, 350z, etc

it wouldve failed miserably

i think when the GK first came out in 2003 with the top trim 6-speed manual and delta v6 with the W-rated pilot sport tires was a dang good effort..too bad hyundai never made uptuned or detuned iterations of it's engines, the delta for the tiburon could have benefited from better heads, camshafts and reprogrammed ECM and a beefier clutch

as for the RD, it could've had a better low end torque and better NVH reduction from the somewhat thrashy beta engine , not to mention quicker steering and thicker rim.

Both were great values for the money. I think the problem with the RD1 was that it was very sporty and looked sleek without power. The 2003 lacked in the looks department and could have had more power. It's not the ugliest car, but it's ugly.

Every car "could have been more." It was fine for the time and styling-wise still turns heads. Not happy with performance? Install coilovers, 17's and some very nice tires. It may not be a strait line champ, but in the corners it comes alive! Can't wait to finish the motor and see what kind of monster it really turns out to be.

I would have liked to see another higher end package kind of like how the United Kingdom got the RD1 F2 Evolution.
