I am going to order AEM CAI sometime this week from a place nearby called AudioJams. Here are the prices the guy there gave me :

AEM CAI - $230
Bypass - $45
Shipping/Handling - $20-25

I just wanted some feedback on everyones AEM cold air and what it has done for their Tibs. I believe the gains are somewhere from 5-8 HP, and torques peak is at like 13. The guy at AudioJams told me torques peak was around 37? So now I'm somewhat confused. 37 is an astonishing number though. The stock engine is already quite deep and agressive sounding; how does this compare to the sound after the CAI is installed?

If you pay $295 for all of that your being ripped badly.. Check ebay.. I picked up my AEM brand new for I think $185 shipped on ebay..

I think the max HP gain was 11 or 13, not sure on torque (probably 5-8 or so).. Its NOT 37.. Theres not a bolt on that will give you that much..

Also, unless you live in an area that floods regularly the bypass valve is not really needed. I had on one for a while and got sick of it. Took it off and you could tell how much better it was working.

I suppose I'll have to by an AEM CAI right off of Ebay then. Actually, I could even get it off the CarDomain store. But yeah, I've seen more extreme prices for the CAI, its ridiculous. I dont think that I need the bypass valve either, but they say it's strongly recommended. "Took it off and you could tell how much better it was working." What do you mean by you could tell how much better it was working? Did the bypass stagger its performance?

How about them gains people? B)

The gains are good. You can also hear a nic growl under the hood at full throttle. I ment that you could actually fell a difference between having the bypass valve on and off. Most people dont use the bypass unless you live in somplace where you know you will have to drive through almost knee deep water. For you engine to become hydro locked the water level would have to be higher than the filter. Which would be about the top of the fog lights. Thats a lot of water!

The AEM CAI makes 3 more WHP than stock @ 6000RPM... it helps more at midrange.

That actually works out perfectly because I tend to keep the revs within the mid to high range. I heard at about 3000 RPM is when it really begins to pull harder all the way through the power band.

Yeah, it makes 8.3whp more @ 3200RPM, thats where torque crests as well. Very helpful for highway passing. B)

Haven't heard anything bad about the AEM CAI yet. It's a good sign. ::thumbs up::

aem is the way to go. i wouldn't pay more than $200 for it though. do some searchin. and i wouldn't buy a intake off of ebay unless it's aem they have some serious crap listed for our cars.
