Put them where ever you can find a spot that you can see easily. If it will fit, I'd get a gauge pillar for your drivers side door.

As for pressures, that depends on the car. After you install the gauge, make sure your car is running good, no problems. Then just check the gauge, what ever it says will be it's normal oil pressure. Just watch the gauge while you drive so you can get a feel for the pressure ranges your car goes through. After a while you'll get to know what is normal and what isn't.

Your car is like your girlfriend/boyfriend. Each one is unique and has different wants/needs/moods. Know them intimately. laugh.gif:

well.. some numbers for you... warmed up to normal operating temp and at idle...

Oil pressure should be 24 psi (1.7 kg/cm)
Oil temp should be between 190 and 215 (90 to 100 degress Celsius)

oil temp it's best to install it in the oil pan were it will be covered by oil at all times
oil pressure, simply use a "T" fitting where the stock oil pressure switch is mounted (front of the engine,a bit behind the manifold/converter right next to the transmission bellhousing

considering not even many high performance cars have oil temp gages.. I would at the very least install oil pressure.

after my radiator had a leak I seriously thought about oil temp. gauge. Because if all anti-freeze flow out water-temp gauge in the dash panel will not be able to show temperature of the engine (or will tell you very late, that you have boiled your engine).

So oil temp. gauge allow you to better control engine temp.

I would install both oil temp and oil pressure.

BTW stock BMW 645i has in dash panel oil temp (not water temp)

That's cool. Is it stock gauge or you installed it?
