2003 tiburon
im new to hyundai from what i have been reading you all just do the same thing as hondas or anyone else for more power.but i have one qeustion for anyone who may know.this direct injection is it on the 2003 2.7L.i was reading hyundai's website and from there pic they have the fuel injector almost sticking strait into the combustion chamber next to the plug.my qustion is after intake, exhaust, cams, pulleys etc.if you put bigger fuel injectors in there would it help any if you programmed the ecu to?it seems to me if it was hot enough and if enough air could be moved in and out of there i dont see why i cant get about 250hp withstock internals.mabey a little less, but does it sound correct?also has anyone had a 2003 v6 tibby long enough to do anything just yet?also how does everyone think the aftyermaket will support the tibby?thaks
Welcome to the boards pav0t.
Sorry I can't help much but you being the same city made me want to post. The aftermarket for the 2003 is going to be good. Parts are already in development, ranging from lights to turbos. Are you considering purchasing one?

I'm up to almost 1,000 km's now with my Tiburon since Friday. (600 miles about).
So break in period is almost over.
I wanna continue to twist Steve's arm at Speedstate to continue to test their products. The CAI is I take it on its way since he was gonna ship it today for testing. He said he was also developing headers which should be ready for prototype use quite shortly. (2 more weeks till I m done work for the summer and I can lend out my car).
As for aftermarket support. It will be as good or better then the 2.0L. I think in the short period the 2.7L V6 Tiburon has been out, there has been a lot of products waiting. Though until we see them in the stores, I won't be able to say exactly which was faster the 2.0L or 2.7L as for product availability. The only exception is forced induction. Probally if you do it, your looking at a max of 300hp due to weak internals. Hypothetically speaking though, if you go N/A you could get a lot of safe power out of the engine and have a nice powerband all the way through.
I have been personally contiplating a possible turbo kit and document it over the winter, but will have to see how cash flow goes.
Hope this helps!!

cool smily what type of mods did you have in mind other than intake, exhaust system, ecu, fuel system, ignition, cams and about a 50 shot.did you know that the duals on the tiburon is fake.yeh,so i imagine true duals,if possible will be off the chain.
Hey Smiley how is Steve at Speedstate doing with that CAI?? I just wanted to know if he has it ready for production yet and if he decided to change the blue for the intake on it. That blue never matched up on my Carbon Blue when we were trying out the CAI on my Tib, So I asked if he would change the blue to make it a closer match closer with the color.
Would you happen to know if Steve tried the intake out on a 6spd yet? I donated my GT shiftronic to help fit the CAI on the car and man I really can't wait to get it on. I was lucky enough to take Steve around the block with the CAI on and it really made a huge difference in the powerrange even on the auto. Cottonmouth from Oakville Hyundai was telling me today that you have the GSR and was wondering which color did you decide on? Also he was saying that you might make it upto Cayuga and was thinking of heading up there to see how mine does on the 1/4 mile, who know's? I might see you up there and and get a chance to see your GSR.

I am going to be doing intake, headers and exhaust for now. Then in the fall, I will see where I go from there. I have a 50 shot kit sitting in my closet, from my Sonata, but I am not sure if I am going to sell it and put a turbo on it or go with N2O. True dual will be extremely impossible to put on due to the way that Hyundai had made the single exhaust setup. Anyway, you'll see when you climb under the car anyway or put it on a hoist.
Jay Tice,
I got the 6-speed. From my conversation with Steve on the phone, I m suppose to be the first 6-speed with is CAI on. He said he was gonna pick it up on Saturday and mail it soon after so I'm excited. He was saying he already tried it on a shiftronic being you hehehe.
I had visited Cottonmouth at Oakville Hyundai, and was gonna pick up his cobalt blue GS-R, but I got bound to my dealerships GS-R. They only had one GS-R (my dealership) coming for the next couple of monthes. So I went with black which was not my number one choice (blue and silver were the top on my list, black was 3rd).
I was hoping to make it to Cayuga or maybe St Thomas, St Thomas is a bit closer. But I was surprised that I actually got my shifting down perfect EXCEPT for launches. My launch sucks. So hopefully between now and then I can get it down pat. Maybe we can have a GT vs GS-R run. wink Don't worry, you would probally take me cause start -> 1 -> 2 sucks, but 3->+ I got it down perfectly. Every night I spend an hour in the million dollar house area of Kitchener practicing launches etc. So maybe I ll have it down pat by then.

For the V6, I would start with a CAI, or at least removing the restrictive intake.
I would then work on the Throttle body, and Intake manifold. The V6 has a 76mm MAF...but only a 50mm TB. So that is where your restriction point is... Then bore out the Intake manifold...send it off to extrude Hone to get polished and have it gasket matched...
Then cat back. The Stock "Y" pipe is horrible.
Then Headers.
Those mods should gain you upwards of 20 Hp easy.
