2003 Tib dyno results
Greetings all,
I've been testing the 2003 GS-R for the past week (I own a 2001 Tib) and I got the results from the dyno back. You can check out some shots and the results here:

Good work but the average drivetrain loss on a 5spd FWD car is about 15%, not 12.5%. Your 117 whp is a little low. Normally the 2.0L Beta Tibs/Elantras do 122-128whp. Your 17" wheels can take 3 or so HP away from the dyno so you are only a few hp short. Your dyno looks a little jagged also, you may have been breaking traction a little. Keep up the good work.

on the other hand though, your 2k3 is putting down the power. The thing I don't understand about Hyundai is why do they die after like 5500-6000rpms, instead of at the redline.

The jagged dyno is where they shifted to the next gear...last year when we dyno'd our cars (GS72ES from Fxtreme and myself), we did one run to see what the top speed of the 2k Tib was, and his chart looked like that during gear changes.
Our cars topped out at 142mph.

Yeah I guess I should have clarified about the weight of the rims but I didn't see volks or Advans on his Tib. I was talking about the power graph. Most dynoes are not that jagged. his is a little rough, not much but a little more than I usually see.

I've seen way too many dyno charts from 2.0's and 1.8's including my own not to know what they ave. (about 105-108 and about 95 respectivley) Besides, RANDOM posted some dyno results including a Tib 2.0l with intake/header/exhaust/etc. pushing about 125 i think. yes there is a general rule about drivetrain losses but that's just as accurate as those silly Hp calculators every car jocky has on their web site. They give you a fairly good IDEA, but the DON'T state the FACTS. People should stop guessing and just get their cars dyno'd.. end of story. wink
Rich.
