i got a 2000 tiburon and can finally afford mods. i was wondering if anyone knows the max horsepower the stock engine can handle and what are some of the better quarter times the tiburon has produced. also if anyone has any suggestions on what is the best order to start upgrading my car it would be much appreciated.

I beleive the stock beta can handle 600+hp, but you need $1200 in mods first.(forged piston, con rods etc etc). But you'd need some wicked mods to get it that high, more so than red or onpol. Oh and probably NOS smile.gif
But your looking at 300+ safely. With turbo, pistons, haltek or motek, etc etc.

The wholly 100% stock internals are limited to around 220 wheel horsepower, depending on what mods you want to run. You will not bump into that limit just by the standard intake/header/exhaust bolt-on upgrades.
Nitrous is probably the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get a good jump in power without a lot of money. Figure about $500-550 retail for a good fogger system plus install fees, and you have another 65-75 flywheel horsepower to add to your ride at the touch of a button.
Otherwise, you can do the whole intake, TB, manifold, header, exhaust etc and pick up another 15-20 horsepower total. It would be enough to put you knee-deep into the 15's.

However, and I'm not sure if this is the same for your car, but mine being a 2001, I'm going to need to replace my stock axles, due to someone doing near the same mods that I'm doing and snapping one of his axles. Also if you plan to put in NOS, for safety you should upgrade your fuel pump and fuel injector unless you want to run your NOS dry (it's also pretty good for the turbo I believe). Alright I hope I gave pretty accurate of a message. (Just learning this stuff himself)
I prefer to have the engine prepared to handle the amount power you would gain from the use of a turbocharger and nitrous. You don't want to risk burning out any of your s**t because it can't handle the boost from a turbo.
