1.8 Pistons
If the 1.8 pistons were used with the xd head gasket in a 2.0 to obtain 11.0-1 compression, could you also use the 1.8 cam, or would valves start hitting pistons at that point?

im almost positive that it has slightly more lift. its not much but its there.

So I don't have to start a new thread later, If I bought the 1.8l pistons and rods, and had the block gone through, would it be a good idea or useless to get a beta2 head?
So the setup would be...
-Fresh block
-Balanced crank
-1.8 pistons
-1.8 rods
-beta2 head
Or would it be better to use the 1.8 intake cam setup, or go with both 1.8 cams. Are the exhaust cams for the beat1 1.8 and 2.0 the same as well?

1.8 and 2.0 Exhaust cams are the same.
Personally, I don't think the 1.8 intake cam has more duration.. I looked at them and the 1.8 and 2.0 cams seemed identical, they were just rotated with a few degrees (advanced probably). I'm not sure about this though..

Blizagaxxx, AGreen is asking fora a NA setup with the 1.8 pistons to RAISE compression...
your question is completely different because you are asking for a turbo setup right? (if not, the 1.8 rods would be a very bad idea for NA setup). I don't know the answer to your question for a turbo setup, I'll let others answer that, but wanted to clarify, with the bunch of new guys we have these days I didn't want them to get confused.
For NA setup, to raise compression in a 2.0 as AGreen indicated; you use:
1.8 pistons + GK Gasket + 1.8 intake camshaft (which has 8º more duration and a little more lift, but not to worry about valves hitting piston if correctly assembled).
Now, I slip one question on this same line, do oversize 1.8 pistons exist? I mean, like when you buy +0.1 or +0.2 sizes for bearings? In that case, would it be a good idea to take care of the block first and just then order the piston size you need? Ihave read something about this regarding to rings, I don't know about pistons...
Also, do 82.5mm 1.8 pistons exist?

you wouldnt gain much just throwing them in there. you should have good supporting mods as well. theres very few people on the site that would benefit from higher compression enough to make it worth it.
1.8 pistons and rods will give a 7.8 CR. I guess with the xd gasket a little higher.
Blizaga, are you turbo? Thats a really low CR and you would be losing power unless you had a decent turbo setup

Guys, for the sake of the thread and for anyone who would read this in 3 months, 6 months or more, please lets keep it clean...
The thread AGreen started is for NA applications, please let's not hjijack this into a FI discussion (there is plenty of knowledge and discussion in the proper subforum) we are talking about how much power increase we would get using this NA setup.
Mods, why don't we split this into two different threads, one as this started for NA applications (the tittle could be changed into: 1.8 pistons for NA apps) and another one in the Power Adders Extreme Mods subforum for 1.8 pistons for turbo applications.
As for an answer to Nathan, I think 1 full compression point would give you way over 3%, I don't know exactly how much, but with other breathing mods and camshaft (even a slightly betterone like the 1.8) it should be more around 5%-10% based on the experience a couple of friends that have done that. But their experience is based on other engines (none a Hyundai) so I don't know if that would apply to us the same manner... however, it shouldn't be too different.
One other thing that helps is that compression raise helps from the lower end, so even when your power does not climb up a lot, your torque curve improves from the low end.
