thanks, good luck.. definitely want to know if this really works.

funkypc 11-02-2007 02:01 PM

^^huh?
It works man. And I'll tell you why. The 1.8lECU advances the spark timing a little, which gives you more power. It also means you need less fuel to run the same HP levels, so you save fuel. Its a win win.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid HKC, I've been telling you folks about this for years, of course it works. We have dozens of members with it installed.

Yeah, very noticeable difference, particularly in the fuel mileage department. I did a thread on it here.

ok im back from my road trip and i noticed a few things.

first of all i hace the ecu from the 98 elantra the good one.

i can say that it does feel smoother through the rpms, no dead spots at all.

second it defenitily has a speed limiter/fuel cutoff at 110 mph.,,has anyone else had this, did you do anything about it.

and last since my rpms were aroung 4000 the whole time it is hard to judge the gas millage but i got 31.25 mpg that up from 28mpg the 2 pervious times i made the same trip with the 2.0 ecu.

HyundaiKitCoupe 11-04-2007 02:38 PM

see i've got a Revision A Tiburon so that mixes up the equation a little. let's say i put a 1.8 elantra ECU in right, then there's a problem because my evap is different on my car than the elantra. most likely it will not function.

i'm afraid of this mod. see if i had a 2000 tiburon it would easy, no cannister, no problems, FX name dropped and tiburon comes standard with everything fully equipped and just swap. but it's a darn 97 so i've got a bunch of issues to think about.

anyone try this with Rev A?

gophins349 11-04-2007 02:57 PM

does anyone else that have done the 1.8 ecu mod have the speed limiter??? is there anyway to remove it?

REDZMAN 11-04-2007 03:02 PM

As far as I recall, my speed limiter is still at 135.

gophins349 11-04-2007 03:24 PM

^^^^

i dont understand why mine cuts out at 110 i have the same ecu as you right?
