Default 1.8 ECU with 2.0 beta

Do not do it. You will run the risk of damaging your engine as the 1.8 ecu has different injector pulse widths and will cause your engine to run lean.

ahh right-o

but if the 1st O2 sensor detects the car running lean then it would just make the pulse width's larger

1. Wouldn't an SAFCII help with that?

2. What is the gain of doing such a thing?

not really looking for a gain, im just helping a local DSM'er do an engine swap in his beater from a 1.8 to 2.0.. hopefully he'll let me get his exhaust cam, tranny and crank out of the 1.8 smile.gif

1.8 and 2.0l exaust cam are the same, only the intake cam is different. As for the two ecu, is the 1.8 and 2.0l injector the same? Is the cycle duty the same? If the injectors of the 1.8 are smaller and that the cycle duty is the same, it should be ok.

1.8 injectors are 195 cc
2.0 injectors are 245 cc

not sure about duty cycles being the same or not but i am sure that the pulse widths are different.

Default Re: new stereo system ?

If the cycle duty is the same, there should be no problem.
I run a 1.5 ecu. The cycle duty is the same and the injectors of the 1.5 are smaller. The ecu will adjust.
