Default New sonatas use a timing chain?

Someone told me recently that the new sonatas all use a chain now for timing versus rubber belts. Is this true? Wonder why Hyundai decided to change the design and go this route. Its a better idea since now there are no fears of belts snapping. cool.gif

they switched over to timing chains a while back. i forget when, but no new cars use belts anymore.

belts in general are PITA. you would think they would have gotten rid of them some how by now (like ignition wires vs. coil on pack)

Yes it's a chain.

There are advantages and disadvantages for both systems.
