Hyundai Sonata Forum The Hyundai Sonata Forum. The Sonata (around since 1989) and Hyundai XG300/XG350 (new for 2002) pickup the near-luxury segment for Hyundai. Find out where to get all the luxuries Korea is holding back on (HID, navigation systems, etc.) and how to tune your Hyundai Sonata, Azera, or XG for performance.

Default New 2012 Sonata Turbo Owner

Hey everyone new here to the Forum but not new to the Hyundai scene. I previously owned a 2010 Tsukuba Red Genesis Coupe 2.SLOW a/t base, then traded that for a 3.8 MB track genesis coupe 6speed with AEM CAI. After several lower back complications (bulged disk) I had to trade in my coupe (hard on back to shift, Ride comfort). I wanted to stay with hyundai for multiple reasons so I bought a 2012 Midnight Black Sonata Turbo. She is very sleek. I dont have anything to compare it to, but I am really in love with this ride. As for right now I plan on tinting windows and that is about it. Look forward to being apart of this sonata community now. I will post pics later when I catch a break in the action. Thanks

Glad to see you made it over here. Welcome to the site.

I'm sure other members are eager to hear your comparisons of the GC vs. Sonata Turbo.

to the site! I also am waiting to hear more comparisons. I love the Sonata Turbo's and I'm really interested in seeing some races/shoot outs between both modded GC's and Sonata Turbo's.

The first thing you notice between the 2.0t coupe and the sonata turbo is the lag. There is no lag in that sonata thanks to a GDI and twin scroll turbo. When just cruising at 50 mph, slam it to the floor and in almost less than 3 seconds it will hit 80 mph, very quick for a four door mid size sedan. Also comes equipped with ECO mode which basically monitors shift points to save on gas. Just like the turbo coupe, auto tranny the gas is not that terrible but not great for 2.0 liter. Showing 21 mpg in town in mine though the sticker says 24 mpg (never bank on the window sticker.) They say it comes stock 274 hp but it comes closer to 282 with some 93 octane in the tank. Electronic fuel and temp gauges. Very roomy. No right or left wheel pull. Very pleased with this car thus far.
