Hyundai Unveils Direct Injection Engine Destined For 2011 Sonata
Direct injection, once the domain of luxury and high-performance models only, will soon be available on a humble Hyundai. The South Korean automaker has unveiled its new 2.4-liter Theta II GDI (gasoline direct injection) that will debut in the 2011 Sonata early next year.

appears like it would fit the RD, but it's reversed with the exhaust ports in the back, intake in the front. hmmmm. we'll have to wait for somebody to confirm this. i wouldn't mind a reversed engine, 201hp COP with direct injection with 30mpg in my tiburon. this is very very exciting, and would add brand new performance and life into our old faithful hyundais.

RD? I want to fit it into the Accent. wink.gif
It's physically smaller than the Beta. Reversed airflow might have some interference issues with the exhaust though and need an interesting custom header for it to work.
The DI 2.0t makes 289hp. smile.gif

well the betas can be swapped into the accents, so we might all benefit from this!!
yeah how sick would that be though. the supercharger would be in the front instead of the back. how badass. not sure if it would work at all. i'm guessing the belts will be in the way of the shifter linkage at least.
it's too bad all our crazy members are gone now. this would be a nice project to test out right away. i can't think of one member online now who would have the will to try this out.

The engine sits just like the current one, I don't think any belts would interfere with the shift linkage, but making the trans shift correctly might be difficult, may have to use the shifter assembly from the donor car.
I really want to do this, I just don't have the money and need a new daily driver first.
