Hyundai takes the wraps off its Alabama-built gasoline direct injection engine
Hyundai has started building a new four-cylinder engine at its Alabama factory that will be launched in the redesigned 2011 Sonata sedan. The 2.4-liter Theta II GDI engine features gasoline direct injection technology, which operates with greater fuel efficiency and fewer emissions, Hyundai said.

k so it has what EVERY engine is made with now days. Direct fuel injection...good for it...They just need to redesign their maps and head flow is all...they could have some gret MPG numbers off the Alpha with a better tuned ECU and better head flow...

Direct injection isn't on most engines, just most of the high efficiency engines. There are a lot more of them around now but they're still in the minority especially in entry level vehicles.
