Hyundai’s New BLUE-drive PHEV Confirmed
posted by zoomiscooters
Hyundai has confirmed two new hybrids for their lineup, one is the concept Nuvis and the other is an Elantra LPI. The Nuvis has no set production date (yet), but the prototype was debuted at the New York Auto Show this year, so it can’t be far off. The Elantra hybrid will be released in Korea this summer.
Batteries for Hyundai’s lineup of PHEVs will be supplied by LG Chem, starting with that Elantra. The BLUE-drive technology is quietly making its debut, without a lot of information to go with it. What we do know is that it’s based on a 1.6L gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission, a 100kW motor, and a lithium-polymer battery bank.
The Nuvis concept was designed at the company’s Irvine, California center and is a crossover SUV-sedan.
