USA- Ford Motor Company got itself into a lot of trouble in the past for selling cars with the best fitment possible globally, while selling Americans cars that had more in common with Chinese cars than cars from a 21st Century Technological superpower. As we look at the US 2012 Hyundai Accent Debut, it appears Hyundai is following the same proven recipe for certain failure.
Like Barack Obama, Hyundai has turned out to be quite the promising disappointment. Hyundai is on a roll, but then here goes this Accent showing that Hyundai still deep down inside doesn't care about the US Accent buyer. Hyundai like the Failing American President promised change. Hyundai stated that Accent would be the "Genesis of Small Cars." Yet, the Accent is the same- just in a new suit. In fact, this is one of my most disappointing days of this year. How so?
Compare the seating below between the models, and notice the price list. The US version is a cheaper model on the inside, but it has some of the highest prices out of: Accent RB Korea, Hyundai Solaris, and Hyundai Verna. In fact, this Accent has the cheapest looking interior out of any upcoming Hyundai/KIA small car on the planet. It appears to be on the level of the Hyundai i10 refresh for the 3rd world.
Not only American Accent buyers have to hear haters exclaiming, "It looks like a Ford Fiesta!!" But, American Accent buyers aren't given the proper kit compared to the rest of the world either. At least give the people a consolation prize for the Aped Design Claim.
The only obvious improvement is the styling and the powertrain. Otherwise, it's the same deal as the old model with its Chinese quality steelies and caps, black door handles, and black mirrors. In that case, we shouldn't expect an Accent Hybrid either. I personally will not buy the 2012 Accent in it's current form unless I really needed it. If you want to buy one be my guest, but I certainly wouldn't even entertain the idea until this car falls in line with the rest of the world. If you cant treat the US Accent with dignity, then DONT SELL IT- PERIOD!!!
Luckily, my Accent MC is quite the reliable machine, because at this rate I will be driving it for a long time. 40 MPG in a world of ever increasing gas prices is surely not going to be adequate either. To me, it's the same as my 35 MPG Accent-Not a big enough difference. Maybe you can fool the masses, but I'm not buying it- figuratively or literally.
I put the word out about the features of this car when it came to the US, and now I look like a big fool. Thanks Hyundai. It's obviously certain that Hyundai is purposely trying to kill the Accent in America, and Hyundai Smoke as a "Fan Boy."
I used to be a pro-Obama Revolutionary, and now I'm an anti-Obama Revolutionary. I still consider myself as a pro-Hyundai Revolutionary, but like my stance on the President I could turn 180 if they keep this up.

oh my GAWD different trim levels between countries? stop the press. emissions requirements, tariffs and expected markets probably have alot more to do with the trim levels than Hyundai's deep seated hatred of the US.
