V6 in my 99 tib?
by the time you spend all that money for a V-6...200HP you could just get a turbo kit for about the same or less and get more power at the wheels. i dont think the money you would spend on the engine, the mounts, and the labor would be worth 60HP??
That's exactly What I was gonna say.. (same as toneboogiey2k) However, I am thinking of swapping my engine to V6 too. But that's gonna happend when I have to make a decision either machine the engine or get a new car..

You could TRY to swap the Sante Fe Engine into the tibby, but it would be a tight fit. I believe the folks in korea have done this before.
Keep in mind you are going to be spending $1500 for an engine, you'll need the ECU to go with it, now you have to figure out how to hook up a engine designed for a 4x4 tranny to a 5 speed tranny, and you have to figure out how to mount it in the existing engine compartment. So you are looking at another $1500 in custom work to get it all to work. For 200 HP? a 60 HP gain?
When 200+ HP can be had with a turbo setup for $3000. When 200 HP can be had for $800 with Nitrous?
As they saying goes..."you make the call"

Ran, I normally agree with what you say, but I'm a little skeptical about the calibration with which you measure this setup.
True, for the same cost (or less) you could turbo your 4-cyl engine and get the same HP that you'd have with the stock V6. But the thing with that V6 is that it's just that...stock. The 4-cyl Tib engine is at the upper limit of the HP you can sqeeze from it. But the V6 is just beginning. From that, you could build even more, get a turbo on that and / or NOS onto that 6, and be up in the stratosphere with your HP...
I agree with your argument that it's not the best idea to do this engine swap, but I don't think your making an equal comparison in your rationale.

IAGO-
There's NO way you could turbo the V6 in the Tibby's engine compartment. There's just no room.
In regards to adding NOS...sure you COULD add Nos for $800. But for the $3000 swap and $800 nos, you could build up a tibby motor for more HP cheaper.
You limit yourself modfications wise by shoehorning the V6 into the Tiburons engine bay. If you sunk that $3000 into the exiting beta motor, you would be better off performance wise.

the cost isnt the issue. i have access to a complete mechanic's shop, including paint and body. i hate nos, and i dont want turbo. i want true power. if i can fit the v6 in my tibby i'll work from there. i want to do v6, cams, pulleys, heads, port, polish, the works. before i start on the long grueling process, i just want to know where i could find racing parts for the santa fe engine
