Engine Swap a 3.5L Delta ??

Ok, I would like a bit more info on this. Basically, how much would it cost to do the engine swap alone? Then how much for the twin turbos? Does Hyundai even sell "crate" engines?
Most importantly.... who would be able to do this? I imagine that you can't just take your car to the aftermarket parts place down the street and expect them to do an engine swap.
And how much power are we talking here before / after twin turboing the engine?

Well, you might want to start by looking around in a junk yard around you for a wrecked XG350 or something. As far as someone to do the engine swap, you should check and see if there are any independent ASE certified mechanics around you or look into doing it yourself. You would need to find out if the engine will mount up correctly and see which transmissions you have as options and then if you'll need custom transaxles. So on and so forth. Consider getting a haynes manual for the 2003 tib and XG350 and compare measurements and diagrams and so on.

Woah...slow down there big fella. There are MANY variables to consider here.
#1. The 3.5L is a delta, and appears to use the same/similar mounts in the XG350 sedan as the Gen3 Tiburon, but the XG is a wider car, with a deeper engine bay. So mounts will probably have to be modified.
#2. You'd have to check bolt alighment between the 2 tranny bellhousings to see if they match up. From what I can tell online, they look very similar, but you can't tell for sure.
#3. Your best source for an engine would be a junkyard. You would not want to buy a "new" engine from hyundai. Way too expensive. You'd also have to "build up" the motor. Stock pistions and rods just aren't going to cut it when you're looking for over 300 WHP.
#4. Any shop capable of doing an engine swap could attempt this, but at what cost to you? You need to do a lot of the research, to find out what can be reused, what needs to be fabricated, before just handing a shop your car, a new motor and a wad of your cash.
#5. Power depends on so many variables. tuning, turbo choice, intercooler size, pistions used (compression ratio)...etc..etc..etc. The car in question that I've seen puts out over 700WHP (claimed...no dyno).
#8 Also consider, this is going to add about 100-200lbs to the front end of your car, and alter the way the car handles, is that what you want?
Set some goals...and a budget, and then you can decide if this swap is within your means and abilities.
When I said that V6 owners should consider the swap, I meant it as a "potential" cheaper/more viable alternative than trying to get big power out of the aluminum block 2.7L. The word was "consider" and "potential". Not run down to your local rice shop and order the APC 3.5L Twin turbo swap kit in neon blue. tongue.gif
It is something worth considering, and it has potential, but it will take homework and detective work to get the answers your looking for.
