Default 4G63T Swap - I know already...

I'm not going to ask if it can be done, I've seen it done, I know it's possible and in fact rather easy.

What I wanted to know, would it be easier IF you use the DSM harness the same year as your Elantra or would it be easier to use a harness from a '89 Mirage GT turbo?

I found a '92 Elantra with a bad automatic for $450, I was thinking about picking this up and since I would want to swap the automatic out for a 5 speed, I might as well do the rest of it, put the DSM harness in, ECU and turbo transmission also. Would I need the shift linkage from the DSM or from a 5 speed Elantra?

I'm trying to make this as painless as possible and I want to complete it in 2 1/2 days with two to three people working at the same time.

I've narrowed it down to this and doing a Mazda 323 hybrid with the Mercury Capri XR2 drivetrain.

A distant 3rd is a '91 Escort GT with a cracked cylinder head. Was thinking about a GTX swap, but need to figure out how to smog it.

The swap is rather easy in the right year elantra. (90-95).

I would suggest the mitsu wiring harness, sensors and ECU. Especially if you are going 4G63T.

You should be able to do the swap over a long weekend. The wiring is going to be the worst of it. If you want to cheat, try to re-use the elantra harness if you are staying N/A. If it doesn't work, do the basics of "air/Fuel/Spark" tests to figure out why you can't get it started. Then work on the proper wiring subsystem to get the system working.
