Don't have a Genesis, but I can drag up enough automotive history to rebut that for basically any other make of car lol.

I tell them not to be jealous. The stigma is slowly dying though. I really believe some people are just jealous, and cowardly.

I never get that response. It's usually, "THAT'S a Hyundai?!" followed by a jaw drop. Happened to me yesterday.

If you're standing around bragging about your 200hp car, then I could easily see people putting it down with the, "It's still just a Hyundai" comments. Otherwise, people generally respect the car.

I hardly brag about it. Except for when I first got it, I was just excited to have it. As anyone is with a new car. There was one time though, when people were asking me about it, this one guy completely flipped his wig on me. So I told him not be jealous that he drive a base model VW Jetta that he put rims on.

I let my car do all the talking, she can do it better, and is way louder than I can ever be. Not much they can say when all they see is my taillights.

I get the "WTF is that?" most often. Then confused people scratching their heads.

I haven't really experienced this. One time I was driving and I heard "Whoa!" Down the street these wannabe thug looking kids catch up to me at a red light and all gawk at my car and one of them asks me what kind of car it is. I tell him it's a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and he goes, "it's a Hyundai? Oh...nevermind..." Then they drove off in this stereotypical POS early 90's seafoam green automatic with a loud muffler Honda Accord. I just start laughing and shaking my head. Out of all the compliments that I've gotten, I've only heard negative things from 2 people. The second person was a Ford salesman that talked sh*t about my car and he then told me the car that he's always wanted was an Acura RSX. The following day a guy rolls up next to me and yells, "Sick car! Man, that thing's so nice!" Of course he was driving an RSX

It's with anything really, people are going to like "name brands" better. It doesn't matter if the car is a slow POS 318i, it's got that BMW badge! I could care less if Hyundai didn't win the LeMans 3 years in a row or if it has "pedigree", what a manufacture does in racing isn't always the same with what they do in production. They make good cars at a good price IMHO, and that's all that matters.

I am going to de-badge my FX just to get people thinking. I had never seen a Hyundai Coupe until I stumbled across mine.

Just a Hyper Auto Club sticker will be enough advertising.
