Default What could be causing my vibration

I just got new wheel and tires put on my car. The wheels were road balanced and Im using the proper hubcentric wheel rings. When I drive between 60-65, I get some vibration and a little shaking in my steering wheel. The car has been aligned too. Any ideas what could be causing this? My car only has 51,000 miles on it and isnt driven hard.

Does it do it on *every* road or only on one stretch of highway?

Is the centerbore in the correct size? Having slightly too big can cause vibration.

Asking the question that may seem silly did it do this before the new tires?

Either your tires are "out of round" or they didnt balance the wheels properly. It's a common issue that many GC owners have complained about. Mine does it too which sucks. It could also be the rims themselves in that they may have defects in them.

If it was happening before the new tires... do you also get a bit of a humming sound (very very quiet) when you turn the wheel to change lanes at highway speed? If so do you hear it only going one way or both? Why do I ask? I had a wheel bearing go bad on my GC and it would shake around 60-65; more so when cold. However if you turned off the radio and listened close you could hear a slight humming (hard to describe) at those speeds and higher. You could also feel a bit of a buzz in the steering wheel while it was doing that. The tire/wheel itself had no wobble to it when jacked up. Got a new bearing - shaking crap and the very quiet noise vanished. Everyone that felt the wobble swore it was an out of round tire.

My guess would be either no properly road forced balanced, not aligned properly or bad wheel bearings.

I noticed something kind of strange. In the mornings when driving to work the vibration and shaking is hardly noticeable. But in the afternoon when driving home the shaking is bad. Could the cooler air at night be doing something to the tires to cause them to not have vibrations in the steering wheel but then when it warms up, it makes it shake?

Have you checked the air pressure of the tires?
