I dont know how to explain it but sometimes when I come to a stop light and I'm just sitting there, I hear a strange thud coming from the car. It kind of sounds like its coming from the back end somewhere but Im not sure. It happens maybe once every couple of weeks. I checked to make sure everything was tight and good on the suspension. Also it doesnt happen right as Im stopping. I'll be stopped for a good minute or two and then THUD. Maybe not so much of a thud but almost like a pop. Its difficult to explain but anybody have anything like that happen to them too?

 

My dad's Excursion made a similar noise when there was something wrong with his differential. No clue if that is your culprit however.

 

Is it sound only, or do you feel something? Are you sure it isn't just a subwoofer amp going crazy or something?



If it were the differential, it wouldn't be something happening while stopped.
