Got a letter yesterday from Geico saying my rates are going up because of the car I drive. I have never had a claim, didnt change anything on my policy, and this is coming out of no where. So, my policy is up next month and you know what that means. Time to start shopping for a better rate. Pretty stupid for an insurance company to raise rates after being with them for multiple years without a single issues and they decide to raise them strictly because of the car I'm driving.
Actually it's a fairly common practice.
When you're shopping for a new plan I suggest you lie about the car you have. Perhaps tell them it's a handicapped accessible minivan, that should be good for your rates. Also tell them your a doctor, not a student or a mechanic or whatever, because doctors get excellent rates. Finally make sure you tell them that your drive to work causes you to put negative miles on your car, but only if you're looking for maximum savings.

I have my options of Geico already, but that aside there might be a decent reason for rate change. Seeing as how popular the CG is I'm sure there are a bunch of wrecked FR firsttimers out there and generalized "he check this out..." That makes the care itself a greater liability in the eyes of the insurance company. Of course, in your shoes I'd tell them to nullify the change or at a dick.
I used to have *shudder* progressive mostly because they cut me a good deal after I came off my parents insurance. But after they rolled over on one private property accident which CLEARLY was not at fault, then tried to total out the 944 saying a single fender was worth more than the whole car (mind you I already had a pair of CF fenders to install and never asked for repairs.) I told them to piss off and went with state farm. Not an issue one since, and in the accident in the 07 they had my back. Sometimes these fools just need to know where they stand and that you can just as easily walk.
So, you're basically saying:

"Here's your sign!"
