Default Sub enclosure "knock test"

Wondering if "knocking" on the cabinet is a fair test for the quality of a sub enclosure?

In home audio, one of the simplest ways to test loudspeaker build quality is to knock on all sides. Should be dead. shouldnt soudn "hollow"

I would imagine it should be the same for a car audio sub box? Reason I ask is, I had one built and when I got it first thing I did was knock on all sides.

I didnt get that dead response though. Supposed to be a reputable builder so just asking.

thanks

In a car you won't hear the enclosure flex until you can press on it and see it move. Cars are a horrible environment for sound quality. If it seems reasonably stiff you'll be fine.
