Default Stock clutch

Anybody know off hand how much horsepower the stock clutch on a 2.0 can take before it starts to slip? And has anyone ever done a side by side comparison of the 2.0 versus a 3.8 clutch? I’m wondering what the difference is between a 2013 clutch and 1st gen too since the ‘13s come with more power.

I can tell you right now that the stock clutch on this car is by far these worst thing in the world right next to the people on Jersy Shore. It can only take what it come out of the factory. The moment you star tunning the Genesis it will start to slip within 5000-10000 miles. Just depends of how much of an ass you are at driving.

From the test and reviews Ive done on severa tunes and other GenCoupes in SoCal. The stock clutch will only last you no more than 30k miles. You will experiance super hella slip at 35k miles. You'll notice the 1st signes at 15k-20k miles. If its anywhere between 5k-10k your flywheel has issues.

Get a Compitition Clutch Stage 1 or 2 with new flywheel and should fix the problem.

The main issue with the Genesis Clutch and Flywheel is that the Flywhell is a dualmass flywheel and the clutch has some sort of self adjusting device on the pressure plate. Causes it to slip.

The 3.8 clutch is actually much better due being design to handle the torqe it comes with. I havent seen many people replace their 3.8 clutch yet out here in SoCal and I've been following peoples builds for the past 3 years.

As far as the 2013... only time will tell.

I have 33k on the car and when you floor it in 5th or 6th gear you'd swear it is an automatic trans.

Most competition clutches give some chatter. Just make sure you have your flywheel resurfaced or just get a new lightweight one. As for the feel after break in, a stage 3 kevlar shouldnt be that bad and still feel somewhat close to a stock one. Break it in properly and you'll be fine.

A few do, theyre just not on here. There will be chatter/rattle. IT feels like a race clutch. Stage 3+ is too high for the Genesis. I've been doing lots of research. If your car isn't tracked on the weekends or a full blown race car or has 300hp+. You shouldn't go past Stage 2. Stage 2 is all you need, even if you are dragging racing it and drifting it, because its your daily driver.

If you go to high of a stage, you will damage the transmission in the long run and will ware out the clutch must faster. I learned my lesson from this.
