Default OEM FMIC

Why is it that you think Hyundai didnt give the 2.0's a FMIC from the factory? I cant imagine that it would be too much more considering the Evo 9 and 10's all come with one from the start.

this came out of my car. It's small, but it's an intercooler. It sits under the radiator and acts as a support for the radiator.

My bad. Didnt know they came with one. In every pic and spec sheet, I never see a FMIC listed or shown. Guessing its not very efficient then since everyone is going with bigger ones that are aftermarket.

When in doubt, webtech:

What the site didn't mention, is that IC load bearing or can it be removed once upgraded?

Because it looks like the rad actually mounts to it directly.

It does support the radiator. Some FMIC kits come with radiator brackets to replace the support the factory intercooler provided. It isn't like all the weight is on it, just enough to relieve it a little from the other points.

I never see an FMIC listed either, and I had to really look for it when I finally got the car.

The factory one is efficient until you start doing other mods and want more power. It's just an easy thing to upgrade; many people start with larger pipes, like Injen provides, and keep the factory IC until they increase boost or get a new turbo. The factory turbo is small, so the intercooler doesn't need to be too big or else it because less efficient.

A while back the wife was convinced she wanted a Mini so we tested an S and theirs is basically the same.

No sign of intercooler from the outside and it took me, the sales guy and his manager going out to service an looking up the config in their system.
