Default New Springs

New guy questions here, but i was thinking of throwing on some Eibach Sportline springs.

1) Does it require any modification to stock shocks/struts since it will be sitting a little lower? Will it affect rebound?

2) Obviously warranty claims are related to damage you did based on your aftermarket mod. Is there any conceivable damage these could do in the long run? Other than maybe accelerated tire wear?

3) Anyone a fan of these?

Thanks!

Planning on upgrading wheels and tires soon after. Sticking with 18s, though they'll be wider.

Not Really.

Not Really.

Yup - or coilovers. Eibach (Sportline) are the most popular springs for the GC

Not really.

You could blow out your shocks.

No. Get coilovers

I haven't heard of one person blowing their shocks with Eibach lowering springs.

I have heard of more people blowing out their coils than I have heard of people blowing out their stock struts/shocks. Unless you have data to support this claim, it really just proves to be an invalid statement, as does mine. I have been driving for 2 years on Eibach springs. I must know at least 20+ Gen Coupe owners driving on the Sportlines, and not a single one has had an issue.

You guys have NEVER heard of anyone blowing their stock struts/shocks??? Maybe it doesn't happen on this platform, and the stockers are sufficient. It happens on Chargers and 3G Eclipses enough. It happened to my 02 Grand Am when I put it on Eibachs too. I'm not saying its often, but it can happen. Which is why I said could.

I'm probably going to do the same thing as you. My current budget allows me to get either good springs or sh*tty coilovers. Sure, I could save up for KW V3 coilovers but I can't justify the cost. If I was tracking/auto-crossing all the time it would be a different story.

Since I'm looking for a mild drop, I think I'm going with the Eibach Pro-Kit as opposed to Prolines. I feel like it would be a safer bet. Hell, Hyundai of Canada lists them on their website:

just curious... what price are you expecting for "shitty coilovers" and "good springs" ?

yes, I've known of people having blown OEM struts, but rarely because of Eibach springs. I agree with you, it could happen, but I can't remember hearing about any issues with the Tiburon platform, either. Struts will wear out over time, but people running springs for 50,000 miles shouldn't have a problem. OEM struts are recommended for replacement around 80k I believe. It happens, they wear out over time, but NOT getting springs because they could wear out your struts faster doesn't make much sense, in my personal opinion.

I don't think the spring rates are much different than stock. I could be wrong.

Shitty coilovers (CX Racing) = ~$600

Good springs (Eibach) = ~$200

Okay, maybe CX Racing isn't "shitty" per se, but I haven't seen a positive review yet.
