I have. And I still have my account over there for the purpose of local meets.

Misinformation was pretty rampant, as well as some other issues I had with the way the site was run. Issues bad enough that I feel the management of that site's bad behavior should not be rewarded by the good members staying there and feeding their corporate machine.

Personal opinion:

I don't care if HA.org is the biggest Hyundai site on the internet. I don't care if it's the most popular. I can see the point in having an account on a model specific site, and if Gencoupe was a good site, I would suggest most Gen Coupe owners joined. I am also a member on Newtib. I greatly dislike that site, but it is a data resource relevant to my Tiburon so I'm not going to refuse to be a member on principle. I do however try my best to support the sites I prefer. If I do a DIY, I add it to my favorite site. For me, if I do a DIY on something for the Tib I post it here. I don't post it on NT. If NT was run in a manner that I felt was benefiting the community I would post the DIY in both places. You can always post a link to a DIY or thread located on another site here on HA. Try posting a link to a DIY posted here at HA on NT or GC. See how far that gets you.

Just wanted to be sure you all had actually checked it out rather then just jumping on the bandwagon. CrookedH brings up some good points though.

Gen Coupe sucks. The only thing they can honestly say to people is they have alot of members. Take away that statistic and all you have is a bunch of morons who think they know stuff and jerks that think they are badasses due to being moderators.

People actually think gencoupe is worth their time visiting still? I left a long time ago and have been hanging out on BKmania (I'm Korean BTW). People trash gencoupe pretty hard over there and have been for awhile. Saying its a sh*t site and the american vendors are scammers. This forum however has received alot of good reviews from the members over there. We have alot of online chats in Korean and theres a lot of good talk happening about Hyundai Aftermarket.

Whats going on in here!?!

ByByCavalier here from GenCoupe, decided to make an account for the hell of it. GenCoupe can be exhausting sometimes, I still like it for the local stuff though. There is still lots of good stuff on GC, but as stated, you really do have to sift through a lot of BS to find what your looking for. Hopefully I don't have to do that here, from what I see though that shouldn't be a problem.

I made an account after reading that now locked thread about two certain vendors that people here don't really like too much, THANK GOD (or whoever)! If I would have known IS sold counterfeit Sequence products I would have never bought stuff off him. Now my side skirts sit in my closet gathering dust because they are falling apart after 3 months of use. Of course you would never get away with calling out IS for selling knockoff products on GenCoupe. Fail.

Anyways, that's enough of that. Glad to be part of the forum and will be lurking around to learn and help out where I can.

IMHO GenCoupe.com has gone down hill a bit lately but it's mostly due to the vast number of clueless noobs that are joining up. I swear there are at least 4 new "What should my first mods be" threads started every day from lazy ass kids who can't figure out how to use the search feature. That in turn causes lots of members to reply with "search" posts, which some thin skinned noob will get all butt hurt over. Combine that with the huge number of keyboard warriors who are just trying to act like they know stuff and you get lots of bad info. When you go and try to correct that bad info more thin skinned people get butt hurt so they start insulting and whining. The userbase of OG GenCoupers is VERY knowledgeable about the GC and cars in general. There is rarely a GC specific problem that pops up that someone doesn't respond with a fix for fairly quickly.

What needs to be said is that the GC community, parts selection, and GC knowledge in general would be much smaller if that site wasn't around. I've been on Genesis Drivers, Genesisforums.org, RWDCoupe, Hyundai Performance, and a few others over the years and none of them can hold a candle to the amount of GC specific knowledge that is on GenCoupe.com.

There are essentially 2 vendors on that site that people continually complain about, SFR and IS. I've had dealings with both of them and have never had anything bad to say except how they handle complaints and/or have acted unprofessionally to members. With all the posts about problems with them you would think people would not risk doing business, but they still do. If there is enough info out about problems and people continue to buy from them, why is that a forums mod/admin/owners fault? The info is there so if people decide to ignore it and have problems, it's their own damn faults. Which means they need to man up and not whine like little babies.

For instance I had bad bad luck with CP-E and Elite. Both of which I expressed my opinion of their suckage on numerous occasions and the posts were never edited and I was never banned. It's all in how you handle yourself. If you come off as a childish d-bag, personally insult, etc then the Mods will step in. Express your concerns in an adult manner and nothing will happen.
