Default GPS install on Gen Coupe, relocate LCD, new bezel

I already have a different bezel ordered to replace this one (one piece vs. two piece) and hope to grab a Nexus 7 tablet refurb once they drop below $150, so it'll be like a CarPC with music, video, Torque, GPS, etc. Should be an easy swap out at that point.

I cant wait to do this mod in my coupe. The LCD relocation kit looks a little off though in that pic, like its not fitting perfectly. Does it fit or is it just the way the pic came out?

Also, whats the cig lighter power plug? Does it just plug into the lighter socket behind the LCD inside the dash?

I removed the cigarette lighter from the unit it's installed in and just have it laying behind the dash. I plugged the cigarette lighter charger for the USB into the USB - it's only powered when car is on. When power shuts off, the GPS counts down to 10 til it shuts off, I can override it by touching a buttong. When power is restored, the GPS comes on.

It is off a little. It simply sits between the LCD and the dash, and I overtightened the screws holding the LCD bracket to the back of the dash. I loosened the screws and it sits perfect now. The overtightened screws were pushing it down a little. Looks factory perfect now, similar to this pic:

Just an update - I posted this in another thread questioning Nexus 7 vs. Kindle Fire.

Kindle Fire does not have a GPS radio. That was all I needed to hear. For an in-car tablet, I see that as a requirement. Download Sygic and pay for it, provides offline maps and works without needing a connection. You can manage space by choosing only to download certain states, otherwise it'll download a few GB. It's also well worth the $50 to get the 16GB instead of the 8GB version. If you setup a Google Wallet account and add a credit card (do this FIRST) and then buy your Nexus before September 30th, you'll get a $25 Google Play credit. I bought mine at Staples, Best Buy doesn't carry it. Best Buy fudgin' lied to me and said you can only buy it through Google, and the dude said, "sucks that you have to buy it unseen." Then I found out Best Buy just isn't allowed to carry it yet.

Kindle Fire also has a restricted list of Google Play apps, and a fairly locked down OS. Easier to root and access the Nexus.

Fair Warning: I have both Type-A and Type-B. I wanted to install Type-B but the screen makes it more difficult to use the top and bottom buttons when you rotate it landscape. The top notification window requires you to drag from the edge of the screen, and positioning the unit so you can really obstructs the ability to hit the Home and Back buttons at the bottom. Thus, I'm selling my Type-B and using the Type-A.

Once my cables and charger arrive from Monoprice & Deal Exchange, it'll be mounted in my car. Should take just 2 more days
