Good replacement for the 8” sub
Whats a good replacement for the OEM 8” sub in our cars? Looking for something with just a tad bit more boom to it.

That *can be* a tricky question but it doesn't have to be. You could theoretically get out of it for well under $500, if you do the work yourself (and you can). The easy answer is very easy indeed if you do not mind losing a bit of cargo space.
Yank the stock "sub" out of there
Put the wires from that sub to the speaker level inputs of either a Line Out Converter (which feeds a separate amp) or an amp with speaker level inputs
Run adequate new power and ground lines for the amp
Mount a small (1 cubic foot is probably plenty) box with a 10" or 12" sub designed for that type of enclosure
Mount and wire the amp
Done
I loves me some car audio so I spent a few minutes searching for you. Lucky lucky popular new car owners don't have to hand-fabricate their boxes like I did.

Stocker's suggestion is definitely the best way. If you are looking to replace with another 8" in the factory location, just look for any 8" subs that are free-air (infinite baffle). Just keep in mind that it will only be slightly better than stock. One I've seen a few people use in their Genesis' is the Elemental Designs e3.8 http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=785

The thing about that, is that you have a LOT of little holes to seal in a mounting location like that, and sealing them all well is not always easy. Everyone of those is robbing bass.
