Default Genesis running 12's in the 1/4

What would it take to get a Genesis to run 12's in the 1/4 mile? Would you need at least 400 hp and a good set of tires for traction?

Most important factors... good air (low density altitude) and skill.

^ Turbo helps negate loss of power due to high attitude.

400hp, maybe. Do you know who Steve Johns is? His car did 13.2 sec's with these mods:

Name: Stevejohns29

Car: 2010 R-spec

Mods: BR stage 3 Tune/Turbo, 550cc injectors, Buschur Racing FMIC, Buschur Racing Catback exhaust, UR o2 housing, CNT down pipe, AEM intake. Stock clutch and flywheel for the 1/4mile pass

WHP/WTQ: 303/333

1/4 mile e/t (time @ mph : 60ft): 13.32 @104.77 mph : 2.1

many of the bigger HP Genesis don't run the 1/4 mile. It's hard to get traction and they can't fit 300s on the rear most of the time.

Plus people tend not to replace the halfshafts and driveshaft, which can break pretty easy when drag racing. Wouldn't 275s work well enough? That'll fit on the rear.

What about a good set of slicks?

Not that much. I've seen turbo cars from Denver actually run slower here in Vegas. Our DA is usually over 7k feet in Summer.

13s from a turbo back, upped boost, and FMIC? That's impressive.

What tyres and suspension?

Also I'd imagine your average modified genesis to be pretty mediocre in the quarter. Nego camber + stiff springs + stiff tires would all work against a powerful car putting down in a straight line. I know similar format sports cars always run surprisingly mediocre times here in upsidedownland. It's part of the compromise of car setup.

A Gen needs about 550 ish to be 12 sec...Just seen one over 700 on facebook!!, But, there are tranny probs at that high hp!, I'd love to see an 11 sec pass from a gen once they figure out how to get the tranny to hold that power !

the "stage 3" includes a bigger turbo. idk which he's running. it was probably a 19t, but he's bigger now. I thought that pass was with a different setup though.

the 2013s are running that power and more torque with intake/exhaust and a tune. People don't post many 1/4 times. 275 do fit and work, slicks would work, but I just don't see the upcoming generation running many 1/4 passes. Hell, I'd have to drive 2+ hours just to find a regulated 1/4 track.

The 700whp Gen is in Floyd's backyard. He doesn't run that daily but he's shown what it's capable of.
