Do you need an air compressor for spring compressors?
Or can you use regular ratchet sets? I got my Eibach springs so I want to try and lower the car myself. I'm gonna rent a spring compressor to get the old ones out.
I just bought a spring compressor, only cost me $30 or so. NO, you do not need an air compressor to compress the springs, I just used a ratchet. It takes FOREVER, but works just the same.

It's actually a better idea to do the compression part by hand. Spin that sucker to fast and your liable to get taken out by the spring that's compressed to far on one side.
I usually don't use a compressor to compress the springs but if you have common sense and do one side a bit at a time and don't go to quickly it isn't dangerous.
It still can be dangerous if you are not paying attention and just compress/decompress one side without the other one at all and you could possibly have issues..
