Default Did you break in your engine correctly?

I was at the dealer yesterday getting some things done and a service tech was telling me last year some kid bought a Genesis. His parents got it for him as a graduation gift so I assume it was someone fresh out of high school. Anyway he didnt break the engine in properly and went balls to the wall with it the minute it drove off the lot. The car was back in for service 8 months later because it all kinds of problems. The service tech said they thought about not honoring the warranty because they knew he beat on the car and didnt break it in the right way but they couldnt prove it so they replaced everything for the kid.

I drove like an old lady for the first 3 months of owning the car. No high revs, no smoking the tires, no hard launches, nothing. I changed the oil after the first 1500 miles and then again 3000 miles afterwards. Did anybody else treat their car with respect for the first few months after buying it?

They can't deny a warranty for what they "know" happened. That's retarded. "I seen him one day driving very fast, he musta been doin 80 or so. That engine can't keep up with that."

Did he elaborate on "all kinds of problems" or leave it completely ambiguous?

I was cautious for the first few weeks, but didn't really "break it in." The small turbo is going to send it to redline quickly, I'm going to drive 80mph+ on the interstate, and I'm going to take turns fast. Hell, I drove the Tail of the Dragon hard for a full weekend at just over 2,500 miles 7 weeks after picking it up with my oil temps reaching ~260 (normal is usually stable around 225)

Drive my car lightly for the first 2000 miles.
