Did anyone upgrade their motor mounts yet?
 

With the capabilities of the genesis being built to have high hp numbers, I would think the motor mounts would take a raping. Whats best to upgrade them with and how much of a b*tch is it to change them to something better?

I think the cp-e motor mounts are the only option. It seems like everybody who installs them yanks them out a month later due to our poorly balanced motor.

SFR IIRC has a dampener....Dont' know much about it, but haven't heard too many good things about it.



CP-e 50A is fine for DD and will break in after 1000miles. I ran my 50's for 5 months on my DD, and still going with no issues. At first it was quite crazy, and it tooka awhile to go around and find all the vibes and then fix them, but after that, it was fine. I just wouldnd't go 60's until you have rebuild your motor. I think it has a little to do with balance, but also has to do with a tighter engine, the OEM is very loose. I have been in a built morot with 60's and it was actually smoother than my 50's were on my stock engine, I was amazed.

I've been using 85A mounts in my beta accent for about a year now. The only downsides are that the rear view mirror becomes pretty useless due to vibrations, but other than that I completely recommend it! Its a great, cheap mod and it greatly improves throttle response.





If you can't find any that you like, make your own!

cp-e has the only mounts now. Logic Motorsports is working on a set and i think throwdown is as well. Im waiting for someone else to make em because cp-e and SFR both have reputations for poor CS. Id rather pay a little more and get better service than not.

I use to use a chain on my last car. Just give it some slack so it is not tight all the time. I was looking at my Coupe and the easy spot (strut top stud) would put the chain in the way of the hood strut. But looking a SFRs dampener they say they use OEM threaded points a bit lower on the strut tower. I'll have to check that out.

^^ What? Pics? I never heard of anything like that. Wouldn't that be move too much and snap you driveshaft? Or am I misunderstanding....

No it was only a 1/4" of slack in the chain.
